Overview
We are seeking an experienced Communications and Engagement Manager to lead the Council’s Communications and Engagement function at Gedling Borough Council. The role will involve leading the team to shape how we communicate and engage both internally and externally, listen to local needs, and ensure staff have the information they need to operate effectively.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Council’s Communications and Engagement team and ensure alignment of activity to deliver the Council’s priorities, while maintaining and building public and employee trust.
* Develop and manage community-based engagement arrangements in collaboration with services, partners and residents.
* Deliver an effective internal and external communications service, including media relations, marketing, internal communications, publications, events, community and employee engagement, and social media management, ensuring two-way communication and legal compliance.
Qualifications
* Extensive senior-level experience in a communications, community engagement or marketing role, with a degree (or equivalent) in PR, communications, journalism, marketing, media or a related discipline.
* Local government experience or experience in a multi-agency environment is essential.
* Managerial experience with a track record of leading and developing a small team.
