Credit Manager – Property Development Finance
The Company:

Role Purpose:
The Credit Manager will be responsible for maintaining the credit quality of new loans using the Company’s Credit Models and Policies, ensuring lenders do not take undue risk. Extensive knowledge and experience in development finance are essential.
Role Responsibilities:
* Adhere to sanction limits according to the Company’s sanctioning matrix.
* Assist in developing and recommending loan objectives, policies, and procedures for Board approval.
* Ensure all new Credit reports comply with company policies and guidelines.
* Report exceptions and provide recommendations to the Head of Credit.
* Advise on concentration risks and suggest mitigants.
* Identify and recommend improvements to policies, processes, and procedures.
* Stay informed about current rates, activities, and regulatory issues.
* Maintain risk controls and conduct pre-application assessments.
* Participate in Deal Forum and Borrower Review Forum meetings.
* Respond to pricing requests within SLAs.
* Review Sighting Papers and Credit Reports, providing reasons for approval or decline.
* Address lender questions via the website Q&A.
* Coordinate with the Deal team to ensure timely loan progression.
* Verify loan agreements for compliance before release.
* Ensure all conditions precedents are met before drawdown.
* Attend departmental meetings to promote credit knowledge.
* Monitor post-deal development loans and provide necessary updates.
* Provide redemption figures and loan statements.
* Attend client meetings as appropriate.
* Support training for new staff.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
* Extensive experience in property development funding credit.
* Ability to make informed decisions on new deals.
* Commercial awareness and approach.
* Strong decision-making skills.
* Effective communication skills.
* Understanding of how credit issues impact the wider business.
* Attention to detail and accuracy.
* Organisational skills and workflow responsibility.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* GCSE level education or equivalent.
* Experience in FCA-regulated environments.
* Experience in similar financial services roles.
* Knowledge of loan, security, and financial documents.
