Overview
Bank Consultant Oral Surgeon to work within Northumbria Healthcare. This is a fixed term contract based in Northumbria Healthcare, to work in sites across Northumbria and North Tyneside for a 12 month period.
The successful candidate will work with other Oral Surgeons in Northumbria Healthcare and Newcastle Hospitals, with the opportunity to develop skills alongside colleagues in other specialities where appropriate. The post holder will be able to work flexibly to address service priorities, balance time between two trusts, and maintain flexibility to support RTT performance targets with a largely predictable schedule. The post-holder will contribute to senior cover at the Dental Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne and participate in MDTs and training.
Responsibilities
* Provide oral surgery services to the population of Northumbria, North Tyneside and Newcastle upon Tyne.
* Job plan includes outpatient and telephone clinics, Local anaesthetic and General anaesthetic sessions, MDT participation, training, education and service development.
* Be employed by Northumbria Healthcare and work across sites including Wansbeck Hospital, North Tyneside Hospital, Hexham General Hospital (in a unit shared with Community Dental Colleagues), and other sites within the Community Dental Estate as required.
* Support senior cover at the Dental Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne and contribute to MDT and training activities.
Qualifications
* Essential: Fully registered on the UK General Dental Council\'s Specialist Register or GMC OMFS Specialist Register (Specialist Registrars may apply if within 6 months of CCT at date of application).
* M. Oral Surg (RCS) or FDSRCS/FRCS
* Full GDC or GMC Registration
Experience / Knowledge
* Clinical training and experience in the relevant specialty, equivalent to that required to gain entry to the UK Certificate of Completed Training (CCT) in Oral Surgery or OMFS
* Clinical Governance
* Demonstrable subspecialty interest in management of patients under sedation and appropriate lymphadenectomy procedures
Desirable
* Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates
