Wood is currently looking for a Functional Safety Engineer to join our System Integration (SI) team within our Digital Consulting business supporting across our UK projects.
This is a hybrid role that can be based at any of the following UK offices: Aberdeen, Staines, Reading, Glasgow or Northampton with the expectation of travel as required.
Applicants must be able to pass the HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.
The Role
The Functional Safety Engineer will provide functional safety lifecycle management responsibility to ensure project compliance with client and Wood Functional Safety specifications as well as applicable code requirements and international standards.

Expected Qualifications and Experience
* Significant experience in EPC/MAC/plant operations, especially in process or automation & control systems within oil & gas, hydrocarbons, refineries, offshore, or infrastructure sectors
* Ability to manage multiple projects effectively
* Experience with brownfield upgrades and automation system replacements
* Up-to-date industry knowledge
* Understanding of project and operational commercial aspects
* Excellent communication skills with enthusiasm and diplomacy
* Organized, detail-oriented, inquisitive
* Team player, fostering trust and respect
* Chartered Engineer and member of relevant engineering institutions
* Knowledge of ISO 21789 and gas turbine safety assessments
* Experience with compressor stations or metering is advantageous
* Knowledge of IEC 62443 and cybersecurity related to functional safety
