Band 7 / 8a – Development Post Opportunity in Inpatient Services For People With Intellectual Disabilities, Specialist Assessment and Treatment Services (SATs) & Adolescent Unit, Brooklands Hospital, Marston Green, Birmingham. Full-time, permanent.
Location: Brooklands Hospital, Marston Green, Birmingham.
Responsibilities
* Join the team working within inpatient services for people with Intellectual Disabilities at Brooklands Hospital across the Specialist Assessment and Treatment Service for adults and Adolescent Inpatient Service.
* Work within collaborative multi-disciplinary teams, and work closely with other psychologists on service development projects, to deliver training and develop groups and other interventions.
* Contribute to innovative solutions to service needs as part of the psychology service, and support service management.
* Use the full range of psychological skills and experience, including clinical input in the form of assessments, individual and group therapies, team formulation, reflective practice, and supporting other staff to undertake psychological interventions.
* Provide training and supervision to others and contribute to, and lead on, service development projects, audits and research.
* Be involved in the SATS & CAMHS Psychological Services team as part of a wider Psychological Services department; opportunities for supervision, training and development; exposure to a range of therapeutic models including CBT, DBT and Compassion Focused approaches.
* Promote Positive Behavioural Support as part of treatment philosophy and deliver evidence-based interventions to people who present risk to themselves or others, with the aim of returning to a less restrictive environment in the community when possible.
* Engage with partnerships with local clinical psychology training courses, placements for trainee psychologists, supervision for research, and teaching on local courses; strong links with Community Learning Disability and Intensive Support teams across Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull.
Qualifications and experience
* Ideally post-qualification experience of working with adults and/or young people with Intellectual Disabilities in community or inpatient settings. However, applications from individuals with experience in other settings who are committed to this client group are welcome.
