Lead Occupational Therapist (Complex Rehab Unit) – Broadgreen Hospital (University Hospitals of Liverpool)
Band 7 (Full time/permanent) – 37.5 hours per week, 6 days per week Monday–Saturday.
Overview
The Phoenix Rehabilitation Unit at Broadgreen Hospital offers active rehabilitation for patients with complex functional loss, such as ABI, polytrauma, and post‑critical care patients. The unit is part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Rehabilitation Network (CMRN), a collaborative pathway that provides complex rehabilitation to patients following traumatic injury or illness, based on need not diagnosis. The pathway progresses from hyperacute to community.
Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise the OT team, including junior staff, assistants, and students; provide senior oversight of performance reporting, sickness management, and supervision.
* Deliver expert rehabilitation of patients, including neurological assessment and rehabilitation techniques, cognitive assessment skills, posture management, splinting, fatigue management, and anxiety management.
* Support the multidisciplinary team (MDT) – social workers, rehab coordinators – to aid discharge planning.
* Contribute to the holistic care of patients by supporting case conferences, best‑interest meetings, and capacity assessments related to discharge.
* Provide training to OT students, other therapy students, and the wider MDT; promote the role of the OT.
* Participate in CMRN audits, research, and personal and staff development projects.
* Engage in CMRN development groups and contribute to the continued improvement of the pathway.
