The Role
We are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys the fast pace of practice life and thrives on accuracy, communication and client service.
You will be confident in preparing financial statements independently from client records — whether that's manual records, Excel, or cloud/software platforms (Sage, FreeAgent, KashFlow, Xero, QuickBooks). You will be comfortable liaising directly with clients to resolve queries. You will be able to present a complete accounts file for review, including Corporation Tax computations and drafting Self-Assessment Tax Returns (not essential).
You will be working on our wide and varied portfolio of clients comprising of Ltd companies, LLPs, partnerships and sole traders in the SME sector. As a small but dynamic practice, you will also gain exposure to other areas — including bookkeeping & VAT, payroll, tax, compliance and general admin — giving you a well-rounded experience and clear progression opportunities to senior roles.
What We are Looking For
Proven experience in an accountancy practice
Ability to independently prepare financial statements for review
Strong knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage 50 & SBC, Xero, FreeAgent)
Understanding of VAT, bookkeeping, tax legislation, payroll principles, and AML requirements
Confident communicator, able to explain processes and educate clients when needed
High level of accuracy, attention to detail and analytical ability
Organised and able to manage multiple deadlines
Team player with the initiative to work independently
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (experience with TaxCalc is an advantage but full training provided)
