Overview
Rocasa Consulting Ltd are looking to recruit an Interim Hostel Manager covering 2 sites in Derby working Mon - Fri 9am - 5pm for 3 months paying up to £21ph via umbrella.
Responsibilities
* Manage the day-to-day running of two hostel sites, ensuring they are safe, clean, and well-maintained.
* Oversee rotas, on-call cover, site security, and compliance with Health & Safety and housing regulations.
* Respond to and manage emergency situations, incidents, and escalations as they arise.
* Monitor budgets, maintain financial accountability, and manage procurement of supplies and services.
* Collect and report on operational data, incidents, and KPIs to senior leadership.
Team Leadership & Staff Management
* Lead, supervise, and support a team of approximately 15 staff, including recruitment, induction, performance management, and absence management.
* Develop a strong, high-performing team culture grounded in empathy, professionalism, and accountability.
* Provide clear direction, regular supervision, and continuous development opportunities for staff.
Resident Interaction & Service Delivery
* Maintain a resident-focused approach that prioritizes safety, respect, and dignity.
* Oversee resident conduct, enforce house rules, and handle complaints and disputes as needed.
* Ensure the hostel environment supports residents\' ability to maintain accommodation and move forward in their lives.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Build and maintain positive working relationships with local authorities, referral agencies, outreach partners, and emergency services.
* Represent the hostels at external meetings and forums where appropriate.
Essential Experience
* Proven experience in managing supported housing, homelessness services, or hostel environments.
* Strong track record in managing staff teams, including performance reviews, disciplinary matters, and rota management.
* Experience with operational oversight, including building management, compliance, and health and safety.
* Understanding of working with individuals experiencing homelessness, including those with complex needs or chaotic lifestyles.
Skills and Competencies
* Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to de-escalate conflict and build rapport with diverse individuals.
* Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing demands and operate across multiple sites.
* Financially literate, with experience in managing budgets and resources effectively.
* Proficient in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Office and scheduling/rota platforms
