This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant multidisciplinary team, develop your special interest and psychiatry practice while having the best of what Devon offers. We welcome candidates wishing to work less than full time.

About you

This is a great opportunity for a doctor who wishes to take the next step in their career. We would love to hear from you if you are an enthusiastic and forward-thinking consultant willing to develop and take a leading clinical role in our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. We are looking for highly motivated and committed individuals who can help us make a real difference in the lives of young people and their families, who can be part of a team, and who can bring enthusiasm and developments into clinical practice.

Main duties of the job

Candidates will be joining a CQC rated Good service, with a strong and established workforce of 15 Child Psychiatrists in Devon and Torbay. The service is particularly interested in modelling the job in line with the successful candidate's special interest and working preference. Devon CAMHS is part of a wider Integrated service within Children and Family Health Devon, delivering a range of health, social, and education services for children and young people. We are a large and progressive CAMH service which values diversity. We are committed to continual service improvement, participation, and the use of routine outcome measures to inform our practice. The service model aims to actively promote prevention, early intervention, and opportunities for children, young people and their families to build resilience and to stay well, whilst also providing evidence-based, outcomes-focused interventions to enable children to recover, maintain their best quality of life, and reach their potential.

This post will be based in South Devon and Torbay working with other consultants across a number of pathways. Candidates can negotiate their preferred named base for travel purposes. There will be opportunities for the candidate to develop/pursue their special interest and provide medical leadership in an area of expertise, e.g. Eating Disorders, Neurodevelopmental disorder, Developmental Trauma, etc.
