MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
The mobile technician is responsible for supporting the CTS workshops and customers, through carrying out all work to a high standard within the workshop facilities or on customer sites, ensuring adherence to vehicle maintenance and compliance regulations. The role will involve carrying out repairs, maintenance, servicing to vehicles as and when required, ensuring that all paperwork and Fleet management system is completed timely, accurately and to a high standard.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. To carry out ministry inspections, LOLERs, MOTs, along with body inspections and services to comply with customer O’ license and all legal requirements.
2. Attend breakdowns in and out of normal working hours.
3. Fully use the fleet management system (Fleetwave) as required.
4. For all work allocated completion of compliance paperwork and following company procedures, whilst ensuring parts are ordered, recharges are identified and warranty repairs resolved in a timely manner and in line with appropriate escalation processes.
5. To carry out quality inspections on the fleet which are on hire, and maintained via third party maintenance providers. Completing reports on fleet condition, ensuring the operator is adhering to their requirements and validating the quality of the external maintenance providers.
6. Adhere to SFS Health and Safety policies, along with customer specific H&S rules at all times.
7. To ensure that all equipment being used by you and other staff is in a safe condition to be used. Ensure that all equipment is only used for the task it was designed for and is returned to the correct place of storage after use. You must report any failures in operation of the equipment to the workshop controller.
8. Ensure that NO vehicle is returned to the customer, unless it is safe to be returned for their use.
9. To create and maintain a professional relationship with SFS staff, customers and suppliers.
10. A flexible approach must be maintained in all work duties, in order to provide adequate cover to service the workshops and customers’ requirements.
11. Any reasonable ad-hoc duty as required.
About You
Essential Skills
12. A full clean HGV driving license category C required as a minimum.
13. As a minimum 5 years’ technical experience on municipal vehicles (e.g. refuse, sweepers, etc), preferably within a workshop environment.
14. Technical experience on vehicle electrical systems (12+24 volts), hydraulic and pneumatic systems
15. Evidence of qualifications and training in the following areas: - recognised time served on an apprenticeship scheme, VOSA vehicle inspection course, municipal vehicle manufacturing training.
16. Understanding of Health & Safety rules and regulations.
17. Ability to adapt to and manage a varied workload.
18. An ability to work initiative.

22. IT skills with knowledge of MS office systems.
