Job summary
We are looking for an Administration Officer to work with our team in providing comprehensive and confidential administrative support to the Gloucestershire Diabetic Eye Screening Programme.
The post holder will liaise with patients and healthcare professionals to ensure that the best possible care is offered. They will need excellent communication skills and be able to work well as part of a busy team, remaining calm under pressure.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will assist with maintaining electronic records of diabetic patients within Gloucestershire and ensure that patients are invited for screening in a timely manner.
They will need good telephone experience and keyboard skills to book and rearrange appointments and have excellent attention to detail. The post holder will need to be flexible to meet competing demands within this busy office.
They will also work within the reception area and be confident as the first point of contact for patients attending appointments.

Job description
Job responsibilities
* Answering telephone enquiries from patients and healthcare professionals
* Generating and mailing patient invitation and appointment letters, booking appointments
* Sending patients grading reports to patients, GPs, and hospital consultants
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records on patient registration software
* Undertaking general office duties to assist efficient department operation
* Providing assistance and cover during absence of other administrative team members, including receptionists, to ensure ongoing service provision
Person Specification
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience (Essential)
* GCSE level A-C or equivalent in English
* IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Effective communication in writing and verbally
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Willingness to undertake further training/qualifications
(Desirable)
* Experience in a screening environment or similar
* RSA II or equivalent in Word Processing or at least one year's relevant administrative experience
