As an Accounts Payable Specialist based in Greater Manchester, you will become an integral member of a dedicated finance team focused on delivering exceptional service both internally and externally. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve processing invoices with precision, maintaining accurate records in the accounting system, reconciling supplier statements, monitoring month-end activities, managing supplier relationships, and collaborating closely with colleagues across departments. Success in this role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key duties will include:
Manage allocated accounts payable accounts with careful adherence to policies and compliance requirements while maintaining regular communication with vendors via phone and email.
Process both non-purchase order and purchase order invoices for payment, ensuring all documentation is accurately posted and coded within the accounting system.
Handle routine accounts payable tasks as assigned by the Team Leader, demonstrating reliability in completing daily responsibilities.
Maintain the vendor master database with up-to-date information to ensure seamless transactions and accurate records.
Perform reconciliation activities including payments controls, pre-disbursement checks, direct debit monitoring, balance sheet account reconciliations, and monthly supplier statement reconciliations.
Monitor month-end activities related to accounts payable processes to ensure deadlines are met and reporting is accurate.
The ideal candidate for the Accounts Payable Specialist position will bring proven experience from previous roles involving invoice processing, reconciliation activities, supplier account management, and cross-functional collaboration. Your ability to communicate complex financial information clearly-both verbally and in writing-will set you apart as someone who can build trust with colleagues at all levels. A solid foundation in MS Office applications will enable you to manage data efficiently while your analytical mindset ensures accuracy throughout all aspects of your work.
You will also has experience in the following:
Demonstrated experience in an accounts payable role within a shared services or similar environment where accuracy and timeliness are essential.
Excellent client-facing skills with a proven ability to deliver high standards of customer service both verbally and in writing.
Proficiency in MS Office products including Excel for data management and reporting purposes.
A strong academic background coupled with relevant experience in finance or accounting roles.
Outstanding communication skills enabling you to present financial information clearly to colleagues at all levels of management.
Well-developed interpersonal abilities that foster positive working relationships within teams as well as with external suppliers.
