Our ethos is about our pupils as individuals, understanding their needs and focussing on preparing them for their next steps in life, whilst understanding that staff wellbeing is at the heart of being able to deliver on that. 1 x experienced SEND teacher leading the Specialist Autism Pathway. The Governors are seeking to appoint 1 highly experienced, motivated, and committed SEND Teacher who will lead one of our most complex pathways. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading a team of staff whilst providing a high standard of teaching for a class within the Specialist Pathway. The successful candidates will plan and deliver an individualised curriculum for our most complex pupils. There is 1 post: 31.5 hours per week Monday to Friday plus 5 INSET days We are looking for someone who has: • Experience teaching within Specialist Autism/ Autism Discrete classes in a Special School • Experience of working as a team focusing on the School Improvement Plan to implement change • Experience of successful raising pupil achievement • Ability to account to stakeholders and hold others to account • Ability to undertake self-evaluation and use pupil performance data to identify and set relevant targets • Practical understanding of the range of behaviour and SEND pupils present, especially those attending in the Specialist Autism Pathway and the support/strategies/resources they require to meet their needs to access the curriculum. • Knowledge of SEND strategies to support learning, behaviour and emotional development (e.g. Attention Autism, See & Learn, Total Communication Approach) • To be able to quickly problem solve to support pupils and staffing across the pathway. • Empathy for trauma and adversity children may encounter • Has excellent communication skills, both oral and written • Understands confidentiality and safeguarding procedures To understand the role and the pathway it is highly recommended interested candidates arrange a visit to the school with the Headteacher.
