Site Agent – Civil Engineering Location: Leeds Sector: Infrastructure / Highways / Utilities / Heavy Civils Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: Competitive Vehicle/Allowance Benefits ABOUT THE COMPANY A leading civil engineering contractor with a strong presence across the North of England is looking to recruit an experienced Site Agent to support a growing portfolio of infrastructure and civils projects in the Leeds region. The company delivers major works across highways, drainage, earthworks, structures, utilities, public realm and energy infrastructure, offering excellent long-term stability and career progression. THE ROLE As Site Agent, you will take a key leadership role on site, managing day-to-day operations, supervising teams, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of civil engineering works. You will work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, subcontractors, and clients to drive performance, maintain programme, and achieve commercial and quality targets. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Lead the daily site management of civil engineering projects in the Leeds area. * Oversee site teams, labour, plant, and subcontractors to ensure safe and productive delivery. * Ensure compliance with CDM, company procedures, and industry HSEQ standards. * Review drawings, specifications, and design information to ensure technical accuracy. * Manage daily briefings, RAMS, permits to work, and site records. * Maintain programme performance, identify delays, and implement corrective actions. * Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities to ensure smooth project progression. * Work with commercial teams on cost control, variations, and subcontractor management. * Produce site reports, progress updates, and maintain strong documentation. * Drive a positive safety culture and lead by example on site. ABOUT YOU Essential: * Strong experience as a Site Agent, Sub Agent, or Senior Engineer within civil engineering. * Background in highways, drainage, earthworks, structures, utilities, or general civils. * Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to coordinate multi-discipline teams. * Excellent understanding of construction processes, HSEQ legislation, and CDM regulations. * Ability to read drawings, plan works, manage resources, and maintain site records. * CSCS (Gold/Black), SMSTS, and First Aid qualifications. Desirable: * Experience with NEC projects. * Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) or Supervisor (TWS). * Experience in delivering public sector or framework projects.
