In a nutshell You’ll play a key role in delivering accurate financial information and supporting clients with a range of accounting, audit and compliance needs. This is a varied role offering a blend of accounts preparation and audit work, alongside exposure to tax, bookkeeping and advisory services. You’ll work with a diverse client base, including law firms, gaining experience across multiple service lines while building strong technical and client‑facing skills. Experience with law firm clients and an understanding of Solicitors’ Accounts Rules (SAR) would be beneficial, but training can be provided. What you'll be doing day to day Preparing accurate financial information and year‑end accounts for a range of clients, including law firms Supporting audit engagements, including assisting with fieldwork, testing and documentation Producing management accounts, forecasts and financial projections Preparing personal, partnership and company tax computations, along with VAT returns Preparing discussion documents to accompany client accounts, including detailed analysis and benchmarking Delivering bookkeeping services, including income and expenditure recording and bank reconciliations Monitoring job progress against budgets and ensuring work is completed to agreed timescales Gathering and analysing financial data to support planning and decision‑making Identifying technical or client‑specific issues and recommending practical solutions Liaising with clients and colleagues to build effective working relationships Supporting and supervising junior team members where appropriate About you AAT / ACCA / ACA qualified (or equivalent), or part‑qualified with relevant experience Previous accounting experience within a private practice environment Comfortable working across a mix of accounts and audit assignments Proficient in automated accounting software and computer‑based accounts and tax programmes Strong MS Excel, Word and Outlook skills Experience with law firm clients and SAR compliance would be advantageous Why work at PKF Francis Clark As the largest firm of independent chartered accountants and business advisers in South West England, PKF Francis Clark offers a wide range of opportunities to develop your career in the way that’s right for you.
