We’re BDO. An accountancy and business advisory firm, providing the advice and solutions entrepreneurial organisations need to navigate today’s changing world.

We work with the companies that are Britain’s economic engine – ambitious, entrepreneurially-spirited and high growth businesses that fuel the economy – and directly advise the owners and management teams leading them.

We’ll broaden your horizons

As a firm our focus on delivering quality audit work for the benefit of the public interest is our key priority. Our Audit teams are essential, not just to BDO, but to the whole economy. With specialist knowledge of sectors, markets and geographies; our auditors have the business understanding necessary to deliver the high quality and robust audits that companies and their stakeholders can trust.

We'll help you succeed

This role sits within the Audit People & Culture (AP&C) team. The AP&C team has delegated responsibility for developing, implementing, monitoring and driving the People & Culture aspects of the Audit Stream strategy. The AP&C team reports to the Audit Executive and works closely with the other Directorates, particularly the Audit Resourcing Directorate and the Audit Quality Directorate in considerations regarding a culture of quality. There will also be a link to the Audit Stream Learning & Development, with collaboration required around training.

The AP&C team needs an Operations Manager – this person will be an integral full-time member of the team who takes responsibility for undertaking a varied range of operational and project-management related tasks connected with supporting and ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the AP&C team.
This role would suit an individual who has operational experience and is looking to develop their project management, budget management and stakeholder engagement skills. They should be keen to play a part in owning and driving forward the People & Culture strategy within the Audit stream.

The AP&C Operations Manager will report to an AP&C Senior Manager and will work closely with other key stakeholders in the AP&C team in addition to other Directorates, as applicable.

You will be responsible for:

1. Working with key stakeholders in the AP&C team to develop and implement comprehensive induction programmes for our Early Careers (EC) (inc SAICA) intake as well as supporting the design and implementation of a new milestone recognition programme at the end of the EC pathway on qualification.
2. Driving discussions and coordinating with various departments to facilitate the programme (eg Professional Qualifications, Audit Stream L&D, Firm-wide EC Induction Team).
3. Creating and maintaining materials for these events, including slide decks and follow-up packs.
4. Taking ownership of communications to our EC intake, creating a timetable of comms and drafting relevant comms in advance for review by AP&C stakeholders.
5. Coordinating all presenters ensuring all are briefed accordingly, hold them to account for submitting their materials, and review content to ensure messaging is consistent and aligned to objectives for the day.
6. Implementing risk management strategies to identify and mitigate potential issues or challenges that may arise before or during these events.
7. Gathering feedback from new joiners to continuously evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of the Audit Welcome event as well as any new events which are launched. Analyse this data to present back to AP&C team with recommendations for future sessions.
8. Taking ownership of Industrial Placement (IP) student materials, including People Manager and IP briefing packs. This will also include ownership of communications and hosting a briefing meeting with all IP students once they join.
9. Working closely with the AP&C Senior Managers to support as needed on various non financial recognition initiatives, including The Audit Awards, The Blaze, Celebrate Your Success and similar events.
10. Creating and maintaining materials for these events, including slide decks and follow-up packs.
11. Taking ownership of the overall project and budget management, and the logistics for these events.
12. Implementing risk management strategies to identify and mitigate potential issues or challenges that may arise before or during these events.
13. Working closely specifically with the partners sponsor of the AP&C team and the AP&C Senior Managers to embed a culture of High Performing Teams within our Audit stream, aligning to a culture of quality.
14. Taking ownership of the logistics for our quarterly Audit Culture Dashboard to ensure all KPIs are gathered from the relevant stakeholders to be reported in a timely manner.
15. Support the AP&C Senior Manager responsible for culture assessment in data collation, analysis and interpretation.
16. Regularly review and maintain the AP&C Insite pages with current and accurate information, ensuring all content is relevant and timely.
17. Work with Audit Optimisation to drive migration of existing AP&C Insite pages and resources into the new platform.
18. Coordinating with stakeholders to gather relevant data and information for organisational and regulatory reporting purposes, including budget information.
19. Developing and maintaining a comprehensive reporting schedule, outlining deadlines and responsibilities for each report.
20. Taking responsibility for drafting elements of the reporting for review by the relevant AP&C team member.
21. Ensuring the accuracy, integrity and consistency of all reported data by implementing quality control measures and validation processes.
22. Supporting compliance with all relevant elements of ISQM1 by ensuring clear documentation of all relevant meetings (meeting agendas and minutes) and agreed actions across the AP&C team and associated projects.

You'll be someone with:

24. The ability to proactively plan and organise work well, and ability to prioritise
25. Effective diary management and confidence to oversee and manage central inboxes
