Role: Site Accountant - Full Time

We are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and highly respected food manufacturing organisation to recruit a Site Accountant for their site in Merseyside. This opportunity has arisen following an internal promotion, reflecting the business's strong commitment to developing its people.
This is a pivotal, site-based leadership role, forming a key part of the senior management team. You will take full ownership of all financial activities on site while leading and developing a small finance team. Working closely with both operational and commercial stakeholders, you will play a critical role in driving financial performance, improving margins, and supporting strategic decision-making.
This position offers a strong blend of financial control, commercial insight, and operational partnering within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strong leadership to the on-site finance team, fostering development and high performance
Take full ownership of weekly and monthly financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Produce detailed P&L reports with clear and insightful commentary
Deliver robust variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year
Maintain ownership of the balance sheet, ensuring reconciliations are complete and assets are safeguarded
Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements, liaising with audit teams
Monitor and analyse operational KPIs, providing actionable insights to site leadership
Partner with operations and commercial teams to drive cost control and margin improvement
Lead product costing activities and support pricing decisions
Manage the Capex process, including financial evaluation and post-investment review
Support budgeting and forecasting processes across the site
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
What We're Looking For
Qualified Accountant (CIMA preferred)
Experience in a site-based finance role within manufacturing, ideally FMCG or food
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence operational decisions
Proven experience managing and developing a team
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
Working knowledge of SAP
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a continuous improvement approach
