Job Title: Commercial Analyst Salary: TBC Department: Finance Directly responsible to: Commercial Director Supervisory responsibility for: Other contacts Senior Budget Owners within Support Service Functions Operational Directors & Managers Corporate & Client Finance Business Development Clients Purpose of the role: Homes for Students is seeking a talented individual to support the business in achieving its business plan targets over the next 5 years and beyond. This role will report to the Commercial Director, who is responsible for driving value throughout the business through cost reductions and revenue generation. The role will adopt commercial analysis and creative thinking to support the creation and validation of initiatives that will benefit the business, as well as applying sufficient governance to ensure value is maximised. Key Responsibilities: Support with variations to client contracts, assessing the impact of different commercial pricing models, and advising on optimal plans and actions. Conduct in-depth analysis of spend, working with operational budget owners so that variances are understood and that actions are identified & progressed. Apply analysis & governance to the various fee frameworks in place, to ensure charges are accurate, timely, and in line with contracts and budgets. Provide governance to the cost base by working with budget owners on spend requests and subsequent business cases to demonstrate return on investment. Assess ad-hoc initiatives that will deliver commercial benefit to the business, advising on next steps through financial models and analysis. Skills: Commercial thinker - have the mindset and thought process that will consider how best to commercially benefit the business. Strong Analytical skills - be able to analyse information and data, to explain variances to budgets and assess & quantify initiatives. Clear communicator - be able to clearly and concisely convey financial messages to both internal and external stakeholders. Relationship builder - to build and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders, to support achievement of common goals. Experience: Previous role/s in commercial finance and/or business partnering. Track record in adding value to a business, through cost reduction or revenue generation. Advanced Excel skills, having done financial modelling, forecasting, and scenario analysis. Experience in analysing data to reach a conclusion or outcome. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification (Qualified or Part-Qualified).
