Responsibilities:
* Work with Consents & Engagement and Environment Teams to develop bespoke geospatial solutions.
* Explore and implement innovations, including automated processes and workflows, to enhance data quality and reduce manual effort.
* Use ArcGIS suite and FME for data conversion, ETL automation, validation, and QA/QC.
* Develop GIS tools and applications for Noise Modelling, Consents, Undertakings & Assurances, and Environmental GIS data delivery to HS2.
* Integrate GIS with Common Data Environments (CDEs), CAD/BIM, and third‑party APIs.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver engaging, fit‑for‑purpose GIS solutions that support decision‑making and project delivery.
* Manage workload, prioritise tasks and act as a core member of the GIS Team within the BIM Team at SCS Railways, splitting time equally between the two teams.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Geomatics, GIS, Geography or Surveying.
* Strong knowledge of the ESRI ArcGIS suite (Pro, Enterprise, Online, Experience Builder, Dashboards, Field Apps).
* Experience with geospatial data reconciliation and ETL automation using FME.
* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and JavaScript, enterprise geodatabases and APIs.
* Good understanding of CDEs and GIS‑BIM integration processes.
* Fluent in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
* Strong communication and collaboration skills.
* Demonstrated ability to meet the minimum job criteria and personal specification.
About the Project:
HS2 is the UK’s new high‑speed rail network, delivering a catalyst for economic growth and connecting major cities. The Senior GIS Technician will work on the HS2 London Tunnels Contract, supporting twin‑bored tunnels, SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition, earthworks and site compound construction. The role offers opportunities for additional responsibility, EDI Champions participation and community engagement.
