CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking an individual who takes ownership and follows through, actively promotes excellence, and is willing to question the existing norms when improvement is necessary. The main purpose of the role is to encompass software and hardware interfacing, combining both new design and compliance with existing interfaces. As a Control Systems Engineer, you will work with cross-functional teams, as well as collaborate with developers and internal teams on current and future roadmaps.
The successful Control Systems Engineer must keep up with emerging technologies, and supervise the activities of less experienced team members or other colleagues to maintain operational feasibility through analysis, problem definition, solution development, and propose a solution.
Key responsibilities:
1. Use software development tools for Issue Tracking, Configuration control and software testing.
2. Review new customer requirements to understand the impact against the current control system, leading the design and delivery of new solutions.
3. Encompass software and hardware interfacing, combining both new design and compliance with existing interfaces.
CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEER REQUIREMENTS
4. You will have experience developing software that will be embedded into, and provide control over, complex control systems.
5. Prior Software Development experience (Ideally Emerson PLC IEC 61131-3 Ladder Logic, but any PLC software experience is beneficial).
6. Knowledge of coding and software engineering best practices.
7. Ability to conduct database design (using for example Entity Framework and entity models).
8. Coding skills in one or more of the following languages: Visual Basic, SQL, HTML, CSS
9. Knowledge of software architecture design patterns
10. Ability to write technical documentation
11. Understanding of networking concepts and design
12. Understanding of electrical schematics / ladder logic software
13. Understanding of software version control and tasking (GIT / DevOps / Jira)
