Ward Manager in the North Wales Vascular Network
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Ward Manager with a specialist interest in vascular care to join Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’s North Wales Vascular Network.
The tertiary unit for major arterial surgery is located at Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire. It is a dedicated vascular ward equipped with a state‑of‑the‑art Hybrid Theatre including Interventional Radiology facilities. The Health Board has invested in a team of consultant surgeons, interventional radiologists, middle‑grade doctors, two new IR suites and a dedicated vascular ward, catering for acutely ill patients from across North Wales.
Main duties of the job
The North Wales Vascular Network provides services to a population of approximately 700,000 residents. After the hub is established, spoke services will be provided at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, and Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
Welsh language skills are desirable, but applicants who are Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
Essential criteria:
* Registered Nurse
* Evidence of further education at Level 6 or working towards it
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
* Commitment to undertake further study or a management/leadership course
* Mentoring, teaching, or assessment experience, or willingness to work towards it
Desirable criteria:
* Degree or Masters
* Recognised management qualification
Experience
Essential criteria:
* Broad and in‑depth experience of acute nursing
* Significant post‑registration experience
* Experience of being involved in service improvement or a project
Desirable criteria:
* Experience of Human Resources management
* Experience of financial management
Skills
Essential criteria:
* Proficient in venepuncture, intravenous cannulation and administration of intravenous additives
* Effective written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team
* Ability to prioritise own workload and work under pressure
Knowledge
Essential criteria:
* Good knowledge of risk and clinical governance
* Knowledge of audit and research
Desirable criteria:
* Experience of undertaking audit
