Amersham Theatres are looking for a Theatre Support Worker to join our growing team. As an elective surgery site for the trust, we support operations from several specialties, including Plastic surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Oculo-Plastic surgery.
You will be supporting the care of patients undergoing local-anaesthetic operations under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) or operating department practitioner (ODP) and contribute to their support. Successful candidates will support theatre practitioners in the delivery of patient-focused care in our clinical surgical teams.
If shortlisted, you will be required to undertake an assessment, that should take approximately 15 minutes.
Main duties of the job
1. Participate in circulating duties under the supervision of trained theatre staff
2. collect sets and instruments for operating lists
3. Maintain stock levels in the theatre and preparation areas
4. Work as a member of the theatre team
5. Carry out date checks on sterile instruments report any discrepancies

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential criteria
15. GCSE A-C or Functional Skills in English and Maths (Level 1 or 2)
Desirable criteria
16. Care Certificate in healthcare (Level 3)
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
17. Understands nature of HCA duties Patient Care and Housekeeping duties
Desirable criteria
18. Evidence of working in a busy environment
19. Experience in a customer focused environment
20. Previous experience in a health care setting
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
Essential criteria
21. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with multi-disciplinary team, patients and carers in English
22. Courteous with patients and others both internal and external
23. Ability to write clearly and legibly in English
24. Able to perform simple mathematical calculations
25. Understands concept of confidentiality and standards of conduct and care
26. Ability to undertake HS&C level 3 apprenticeship (mandatory)
