Strategy Lead – Role Overview
As Strategy Lead, you will be based within the Strategy team reporting to the Head of Strategy. The Strategy Team sets the long-term direction for the Valuation Office Agency across its three strategic objectives: providing trusted valuations efficiently; delivering an excellent customer experience; and being a great place to work.
We work with policy, operations and central functions to define and prioritise the Agency’s short, medium, and long-term aims. We gather and analyse data to deliver evidence-based propositions on how to achieve these aims and solutions for complex challenges. We set out appropriate designs and implementation approaches, translating them into actionable plans.
The Strategy Team is part of the broader Strategy and Transformation Group, working across the Agency to develop and implement transformation initiatives. We ensure alignment between major programmes and smaller projects by providing a comprehensive overview of the Agency’s strategic landscape.
Initially, as Strategy Lead, you will be responsible for the VOA’s Customer & Channel Strategy, ensuring our activities and transformation plans align with customer priorities. You will collaborate with operational, data, customer experience, communications, and transformation colleagues to embed the customer’s strategic priorities into the broader Agency framework. The role involves high levels of senior engagement and stakeholder management.
The role will expand to support broader strategic elements of the VOA’s transformation and programme work, focusing on improving operations and customer experience.
Strategy Lead – Key responsibilities
The Strategy Lead plays a crucial role in developing VOA strategies and supporting their transition into design and delivery. Key responsibilities include:
* Owning the Customer & Channel Strategy – ensuring alignment of VOA activities with strategic principles and maintaining relevance to customer and stakeholder groups.
* Leading Strategy Development – defining strategic ambitions, developing business cases, conducting strategic analysis, and establishing steps for strategy delivery.
* Transitioning into design and delivery – refining roadmaps, testing assumptions, conducting cost-benefit analyses, and collaborating with design, delivery, and operational teams to ensure strategic vision is maintained.
* Providing ongoing strategic support – contributing to investment cases, portfolio assessments, and annual business plans.
* Stakeholder Management – identifying key stakeholders and building effective relationships for collaborative strategy development.
* Building Strategic Capability – developing personal and team strategic skills and capabilities across the organization.
