Job Title: Estates Maintenance Assistant
Location: Carlisle (Enhanced DBS required)
Contract: 6-Month Temporary
Hours: 37 per week
Pay: £12.21 per hour
Main Purpose of the Role
Reporting directly to the Head of Estates, you will join a dedicated team responsible for ensuring our college buildings are safe, well-maintained, and welcoming. You will be the go-to person for repairs, setups, and general support - assisting staff, students, and visitors with professionalism and a positive attitude.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out general maintenance and repairs (internal and external)
Liaise with staff to report issues and provide updates
Learn the layout and structure of the college to assist contractors
Perform statutory checks including fire alarms, emergency lighting, water systems, and extinguishers
Set up rooms and areas for events and curriculum activities
Assist contractors and ensure safety procedures are followed
Open and close the building depending on shift requirements
Respond to emergencies such as floods or lift evacuations
Undertake CPD and training as required
Participate in the call-out rota as a key holderWhat We're Looking For
