Purchasing Assistant

£24,000 - £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)

8:00am to 4:30pm
We are seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join our client in Diss, Norfolk. In this role you will assist the team to manage an annual spend of approximately £2.3 million on materials.
While this position is ideal for someone looking to grow within purchasing, we also welcome applications from candidates with experience in procurement or supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities:
Determine quantity and timing of deliveries to meet production and project needs
Place purchase orders based on job specifications and stock requirements
Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality, timely delivery, and contract compliance
Process quotes for both new and existing customer products
Monitor and progress orders to meet scheduled build plans, resolving any issues that may arise
Handle daily purchasing requirements from production teams
Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier records
Process supplier returns and manage associated documentation
Answer and direct incoming phone calls professionally
Support the Production Manager one day per week by learning and assisting with route card planning using complex manufacturing software What we're looking for:
Willingness to learn and develop within a purchasing role
Strong organisational and communication skills
Experience in using Microsoft Office
Experience with purchasing or production planning software (preferred for experienced applicants)
Previous experience in procurement, supply chain, or manufacturing environments (preferred for experienced applicants)
Ability to manage supplier relationships and resolve delivery or quality issues (preferred for experienced applicants) Benefits:
