Credit Controller £28,000 - £30,000 NG22, Nottingham Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm Looking for someone to start asap Purpose This role plays a critical role in safeguarding the company’s financial health and enabling continued growth within the industry. The core purpose is to maximise working capital efficiency by ensuring the prompt and secure collection of payments, while managing the risk associated with complex, high-value B2B projects and trade accounts. This role is essential for minimising bad debt exposure, especially during the onboarding of new clients. Responsibilities Proactively manage and collect outstanding debts from a small, high value, and strategically important client portfolio, focusing on relationship preservation and complex debt resolution Efficiently handle the high volume low value debt ledger and also high value low volume Conduct comprehensive and detailed financial risk assessments on all potential new high value clients, analysing financial statements, credit reports and market intelligence to determine appropriate credit limits and terms Own the end to end credit onboarding process for strategic accounts, ensuring accurate documentation, negotiating payment terms and setting up accounts strictly in line with credit policy Negotiate complex payment plans and resolve high level disputes directly with senior stakeholders for large accounts, while managing the efficient and timely resolution of lower value queries Monitor both ledgers for early warning indicators of financial distress and promptly implement necessary corrective or escalated collection actions Drive continuous improvement in the high volume collection process by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance system utilisation to improve efficiency and accuracy Person Specification Direct experience in a Credit Control or dedicated debt collection role Experience with a variety of accounting software packages reporting). Understanding of credit control procedures, financial reporting and the principles of managing an aged debtor ledger Experience dealing with internal and external customer/client relationships regarding financial matters Knowledge of relevant legal regulations regarding debt collection and credit agreements
