We are recruiting for a proactive and driven Engineering Shift Manager to lead a skilled team of engineers within a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone with strong engineering knowledge, fault-finding ability, and experience in leading maintenance operations based in Rugby.
The Role:
As Engineering Shift Manager, you'll take full responsibility for the engineering team on shift, ensuring all maintenance, breakdowns, and health & safety procedures are effectively managed. You'll play a key role in driving equipment reliability, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring minimal downtime across production lines.
Shift Pattern:
* 4 on 4 off
* Rotating Days & Nights (12-hour shifts)
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and coordinate the engineering team during your shift
* Manage and prioritise PPM, reactive maintenance, and breakdowns
* Support fault finding and resolution - ideally with knowledge of PLCs
* Maintain high standards of health & safety and ensure compliance at all times
* Monitor and report on performance metrics, downtime, and improvements
* Work collaboratively with production, quality, and CI teams to deliver site goals
* Provide technical support and coaching to engineers and apprentices
What You'll Need:
* Strong engineering background - electrical or mechanical bias
* Experience in a fast-paced FMCG / manufacturing environment
* Proven leadership skills within a maintenance team
* Confident in fault finding, including PLC-controlled systems
* Excellent understanding of H&S regulations and best practices
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Salary & Benefits:
* £58,429 per annum
