Since opening in December 2005, Hillsborough Village Centre has become a hub of activity and a community focal point. The whole complex is a not for profit charity venture and every penny of income generated over and above running costs is re-invested to maintain and improve the facilities and equipment available. While our main focus is facilitating community activities, we also provide facilities for commercial users in rooms equipped with digital projectors, laptops, and smart TVs.We are currently seeking to recruit a Centre Manager to manage and co-ordinate the activities within the Village Centre, someone who embraces customer service with a welcoming smile; knows how to get things done with a great ‘can do’ attitude, and who will ensure the Village Centre team, and all its users, feel respected and supported.This is ideally a full-time role, with a flexible pattern over 38 hours per week, however part-time working hours will be considered. The role is based in the Village Centre.
Responsibilities
* Management of the Village Centre team, providing support and guidance; ensuring staffing rotas are fulfilled and the team are appropriately trained and equipped to carry out their roles effectively.
* Maintenance of key operational systems including Skedda (for room and activity bookings) and Safety Culture (for compliance).
* Oversee the financial management of the Centre, including debtor/creditor transactions, management of the Zettle system (for cash, cheque and card payments), and Quickbooks (for banking and account management).
* On a monthly basis, manage the payroll process including collation and sign-off of timesheets and liaising with the Centre’s accountant for payment.
* Lead on compliance across the Village Centre, ensuring all health & safety policies are adhered to, and on an annual basis complete the Compliance Framework including the updating of risk assessments and key policies.
* Ensure the building and its grounds and sports pitches are effectively maintained, arranging for appropriate maintenance when required.
* Provide accurate reporting data to Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council (monthly) and to the Charities Commission (on an annual basis).
* Help to maximise the revenue income for the Centre. Proactively research, identify and apply for suitable grant funding on behalf of the Village Centre.
* Co-ordinate all key-holders for the Village Centre, ensuring out of hours access if required (e.g. due to an alarm being triggered, or when the centre may be called upon to act as an emergency resource centre by the Council.
* While you will be the main Centre Manager, co-ordinating staff and systems, you’ll also be expected to ‘muck in’ and help with any day-to-day issues that arise, which could include preparing/cleaning a room ready for the next group.
* You will be supported by the Village Centre’s Board of Directors, who actively provide leadership on key issues such as compliance and safeguarding, and help ensure that the Centre is run as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Skills and Qualifications
* Customer Service which could be in retail or working in a similar public-facing role.
* Managing a team and able to resolve issues quickly and effectively, giving appropriate feedback when required, and able to engage with and motivate your team
* Financial management including experience of co-ordinating banking and monetary transactions, and able to manage payroll co-ordination.
* IT systems experience including managing complex online processes and systems.
* Compliance experience including good knowledge of health, safety and wellbeing requirements for a centre that facilitates groups of both adults and children.
* A flexible approach with a willingness to get stuck into whatever is required.
* A passion for great ‘customer service’ and community support for example ensuring everyone who steps into the Village Centre is greeted with a smile and is supported appropriately.
* Available to work flexible shifts, if necessary, as the Centre typically operates 8.30am to 9.30pm Monday to Friday, and until 6pm on a Saturday.
