Newstaff Education is expanding its Alternative Provision Department and is looking for passionate, patient, and experienced Tutors to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver 1:1 or small group tuition tailored to the needs of students who are unable to access mainstream education.
Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver engaging, personalised lessons in core subjects (English, Maths, Science, etc.)
2. Support students with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and complex learning difficulties
3. Work in homes, schools, community centres, or online – depending on student needs
4. Monitor and report on progress, adapting teaching methods as necessary
5. Collaborate with our education team and local authority stakeholders
✅ What We’re Looking For:
6. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or relevant tutoring experience
7. Experience working with SEND learners (essential)
8. Strong behaviour management and ability to build rapport
9. Patience, empathy, and a child-centred approach
10. Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
11. Driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable
