Candidate required: Site Engineer Job Type: Permanent Start date: ASAP Industry: Construction Professionals Location: Portsmouth The role & about the client: ITS Building People are recruiting on behalf of a reputable civils firm for delivering high quality infrastructure and engineering projects in sectors such as highways, energy, flood and costal defence on large scale site development. This client is looking for a Site Engineer to join the team for a large earthworks project. This project has 10 years of work and is a unique project for the UK. The client is looking for a candidate who is eager to keep to progress throughout the project cycle. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Setting out works in accordance with drawings, specifications, and project requirements Establishing and maintaining accurate control points and site surveys Overseeing earthworks operations including cut and fill, bulk excavation, capping layers and formation levels Monitoring levels, tolerances and volumes to ensure compliance with design and specification Managing machine control data and GPS systems where applicable Interpreting technical drawings and resolving on-site engineering queries Ensuring works are delivered in line with programme and quality standards Recording and maintaining accurate site records, as built information, and QA documentation Coordinating with subcontractors, plant operators and supervisors Supporting material testing and liaising with laboratories to ensure specification compliance Identifying and mitigating technical and construction risks Promoting and enforcing high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance Assisting with progress reporting and contributing to site meetings The ideal candidate will have: Qualified in Civil Engineering Proven experience as a Site Engineer on large scale earthworks or infrastructure projects Relevant tickets- CSCS, SSSTS or SMSTS, First Aid Sound knowledge of bulk excavation, cut and fill operations and groundworks techniques Strong setting out and surveying experience (GPS, total station, machine control systems) Knowledge of earthworks specifications, testing requirements and industry standards Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively with site teams and subcontractors Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment Committed to maintaining high health, safety, and environmental standards How to apply: If you're interested in this freelance opportunity, please apply with your updated CV or contact ITS Building People for more details.
