Senior Laboratory Technician: Pioneering Air Defence Technology
Salary: Up to £60,000 dependent on experience Location: North Norfolk (Near Norwich)
We are a highly ambitious, well-capitalised stealth startup establishing unique manufacturing capabilities in Europe, focused on developing next-generation air defence products, including the supply chain for rocket engines. We require a Senior Laboratory Technician to be the driving force in bridging our critical chemical processes from the lab bench to robust industrial production.
The Mission: Process Ownership & Industrial Scale
This is a senior, hands-on role where you will take ownership of process refinement and validation. You will work closely with our engineering and chemistry teams to ensure the synthesis, formulation, and characterisation of polymeric materials are repeatable, safe, and scalable for manufacturing.
What Makes You Essential
We are seeking a technician who operates with a senior level of precision, compliance, and material management, possessing the following experience:
* Regulated Process Authority: You have significant, proven practical experience (6+ years) in a highly disciplined manufacturing or process environment, specifically adhering to ISO 13485 (Medical Device) or similar GMP standards. You know how to lead development lines and ensure process integrity.
* Handling Volatile Materials: You have direct, confirmed experience operating specialised machinery (like crimping and filling equipment) and maintaining strict safety protocols (COSHH) while working with high-risk, compressed, or volatile gases/materials in a production setting. Safety leadership is paramount.
* Compliance & Documentation Ownership: You are an expert in managing complex lab documentation, generating V&V records, and proficiently navigating electronic data systems like LIMS and SAP.
* Technical Leadership: You are skilled in advanced analytical testing, troubleshooting, and contributing to V&V activities, capable of providing mentorship and ensuring quality control across lab operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and assist in the synthesis and precise batch formulation procedures defined by production chemists.
* Operate, maintain, and ensure calibration of sophisticated lab equipment (e.g., reactors, analytical instruments).
* Proactively ensure absolute compliance with all safety regulations, actively participating in safety audits and committees.
* Strategically collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to troubleshoot process issues and improve synthesis procedures for successful scaling.
