Mental Health Waking Night Support Worker, Young People
Bromborough, Wirral
Full Time – 38.5 hours per week
£26,986.96 per annum
Driver required – Manual UK licence only – Must be able to drive service car.
Overview
Care in Mind provides residential services for young people aged 16‑30 with complex mental health and self‑harm needs. The role supports daily living, wellbeing, education and general life skills during night shifts, with support from another night worker, a sleep‑in or an on‑call manager.
Responsibilities
* Night shift work including weekends and bank holidays.
* Attend training throughout employment (weekdays).
* Write basic reports and record information accurately.
* Complete computer work, using an online care system and writing emails.
* Maintain a professional working boundary.
* Remain calm in emergencies and support others during difficult situations.
* Update online care records and provide effective handovers to day staff.
* Administer medication and complete medication administration.
* Support daily living tasks: meal preparation, food shopping, prompting for self‑care, medication administration, medical appointments and general upkeep of the home.
* De‑escalate challenging behaviours and manage incidents.
* Assist with activities such as clothes shopping, swimming, meals out, youth clubs and group activities.
Qualifications
* Full UK driving licence – Manual only.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Basic IT skills – use of online care system.
* Professional boundary and calm emergency response.
Desirable Criteria
* NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Care.
* Previous experience working with young people who have mental health needs.

Additional Information
Previous care experience is not essential. Full training and ongoing mentoring will be provided, including reflective practice, 1:1 supervisions and group staff support. You must be a driver to apply for this post.
