Controls Engineer
Location : Forest Gate, London
Salary : Up to £70,000 (flexible for exceptional candidates)
Schedule : Monday-Friday or Wednesday-Sunday (with enhanced package)
Contract : Permanent
We're supporting one of the UK's busiest and most advanced bakeries in their search for an experienced Controls Engineer to join their high-performing engineering team at their Forest Gate site.
This is a hands‑on, site‑based role where you'll take ownership of all control systems and electrical infrastructure across a fast‑paced production facility that manufactures over two million units per week.
You'll act as the site's technical authority on PLCs and automation, delivering high‑level fault‑finding, system modifications, and performance improvements — while supporting and mentoring shift engineers to strengthen their own automation capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead PLC fault‑finding and support across complex production lines
* Carry out system modifications, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects
* Support site‑wide electrical and automation infrastructure
* Mentor engineers to build in‑house fault‑finding capability
* Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with duty holder responsibilities
What We're Looking For
* Strong PLC programming and fault‑finding skills (preferably Allen Bradley / Rockwell; Siemens also valued)
* Electrical engineering qualification and working knowledge of electrical safety and compliance
* Proven experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing or FMCG environment
* Strong problem‑solving ability with a proactive and collaborative approach
