Deputy Communications and Digital Content Officer Location: Belfast Salary: £42,345 Hybrid Working: Yes Contract Type: Initial Interim Contract An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Communications Team at the Northern Ireland Assembly as a Deputy Communications and Digital Content Officer. The successful candidate will support the delivery of pre-planned and reactive communications activity, contributing ideas and implementing creative, informative content across a range of platforms. Main Duties and Responsibilities Responding to and managing media enquiries in a timely and professional manner, safeguarding the Assembly's reputation. Creating engaging written and digital content about the Assembly's work and activities for diverse audiences. Promoting and explaining the role of Assembly Committees (Statutory, Standing, and Ad-hoc), the Speaker's Office, and the Assembly Commission. Identifying and developing opportunities to communicate Committee work and increase public engagement. Creating media and communications plans for Assembly events and initiatives. Drafting briefing materials, including lines-to-take, interview notes, and content to prepare the Speaker, Committee Chairs and senior staff for media engagements. Advising the Speaker, Committee Chairs and business areas on communication objectives in line with the Corporate Communications Strategy. Using digital analytics tools to evaluate the effectiveness of communications activity, reporting successes and learnings. Representing the Communications Office at internal meetings and Assembly-wide working groups. Monitoring media and digital coverage of the Assembly, providing insight and summaries to Senior Managers. Developing concepts and specifications for creative agencies and advising the Assembly Commission on photography, design, and branding. Complying with all staff policies including Equal Opportunities, Dignity at Work, and mandatory training requirements. Managing information and records in accordance with policy and statutory requirements. Essential Criteria Hold a degree in a related subject such as Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations or Communications, OR Hold a professional skill-related diploma and be a member of a recognised professional body such as the Institute of Public Relations, AND Have at least 2 years' relevant experience in the following areas: Option 2 Have at least 4 years' relevant experience in the following areas: (a) Working in a communications office or public relations environment, handling media relations and responding to media enquiries.
