Tasks
To support the Head of Environment on project wide assurance in line with ISO 14001:2015, internal standards and contractual requirements. Provide advice and support to business units and ensure that specific projects are set up and operate in line with company requirements.
* Advise and support Project Management and Supervisors in discharging their responsibilities towards the environment and respond to queries or correspondence on environmental issues
* Ensure employees are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities and understand the requirements of the Group
* Environmental Procedures and Guidance Notes
* Writing, reviewing and maintaining EMS documentation for the UK business and for Strabag UK and Züblin UK projects, including Aspects and Impacts assessments for new projects. Assessing project resourcing requirements and establishing training programmes. Supporting recruitment.
* Advising on and applying for consents and authoring documents for planning condition discharge on behalf of pre-construction teams. Liaising directly with regulators such as the Environment Agency, SEPA and Local Planning Authorities.
* Supporting tender writing and preparation.
* Support and lead on incident investigation where required.
* Produce Contract Environmental Management Plans, and other contract specific environmental plans and/ or site-specific environmental instructions.
* Identify significant environmental impacts for contracts and help set-up contracts to include appropriate controls
* Maintain records as necessary to ensure compliance with Legislation, Company procedures and Contract RequirementsIdentify employees that require environmental training, provide relevant training and maintain records of training provided
Qualifications
* Degree Qualified (or experience equivalent to a degree). BSc / MSc in Environmental subject
* Progressing with IEMA chartership
* Full Driving Licence
* Significant experience in Environmental Management within the construction industry
* Good understanding of environmental legislation relevant to the construction industry.
* Good understanding of the requirements of the ISO 14001 standard.
* Assess information within normal areas of responsibility; question evidence and findings in order to highlight and communicate issues.
* Be able to work systematically within clear guidelines / set goals and strive to achieve required results consistently.
* Lead and motivate others to continually improve performance. Give recognition for good performance
