The Role:
Warrington Borough Council is seeking a committed, compassionate, and highly motivated Personal Advisor to join our Ofsted-rated GOOD Care Leavers Service.
As a Personal Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting young people aged 16 to 25 who are leaving care. You will work with them from their 16th birthday, building strong, trusting relationships and helping to shape their Pathway Plans as they move toward independence and adulthood.
This dynamic role requires working with young people facing diverse complex needs. You will offer practical and emotional support, often being the key professional involved in a young person’s life. The role involves partnership working with external agencies, responding to crises, and occasional travel to meet young people in the community.
Our team takes pride in the growing Local Offer for care leavers in Warrington, which includes a welcoming drop-in service at the Living Well Hub, and a variety of workshops and resources designed to support and empower care-experienced young people. We are also proud of the innovative ways we maintain positive engagement with our young people.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fulfil the statutory duties of a Personal Advisor under the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000.
2. Collaborate with social workers to prepare young people for life after care.
3. Provide ongoing support to care leavers living independently in the community.
4. Liaise with partner agencies to ensure high-quality support.
5. Offer practical assistance, emotional guidance, and access to relevant services and resources.
6. Maintain accurate and timely records in line with legislative and policy requirements.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience as a Personal Advisor or in a similar support role.
2. Minimum NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area.
3. At least five GCSEs, including English and Maths.
4. Ability to build positive, respectful relationships with young people.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to converse clearly in English.
6. A flexible, responsive approach to work, including responding to urgent situations.
If you're ready to join a dynamic team dedicated to creating positive change in social care, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out for more details or to apply.
