About the role

North Northamptonshire is in the midst of an ambitious cultural transformation. The newly developed Cultural Masterplan 2025–2030 sets out a shared vision for arts, heritage, creativity and community participation across the district, uniting cultural stakeholders, strengthening the sector's social and economic impact, and building a compelling case for investment. This is a place-based plan designed to put culture at the heart of community cohesion, placemaking and economic development, and its delivery will require energy, collaboration and genuine passion for what North Northamptonshire has to offer.

Events are a vital part of that story. This role leads on a growing programme of flagship experiences that bring people together, celebrate the area's identity and raise its profile as a destination, including Northamptonshire Day, the Roman Festival at Chester House Estate, and the annual LVEP Awards and Conference. These aren't just events; they're opportunities to strengthen partnerships, engage communities and demonstrate what a confident, culturally ambitious North Northamptonshire looks like.

Underpinning all of this is Discover Northamptonshire, the area's Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP), a strategic collaboration that brings together tourism businesses, cultural organisations, heritage bodies and public sector partners to grow the visitor economy and drive sustainable growth. As the LVEP moves from strategy into delivery, the Tourism Hub at Rushden Lakes sits at the centre of that work, providing a gateway for visitors, residents and partners alike.

This is a varied, outward-facing role that connects culture, events, tourism and partnership into a single, purposeful agenda. At its heart, it is about turning strategy into action — working with partners across the public, private and voluntary sectors to deliver the Cultural Masterplan, build the coalitions needed to sustain it, and secure the cultural investment and funding that will shape North Northamptonshire's future. If you are motivated by making places better, and by the idea that culture, creativity and heritage can genuinely change how people feel about where they live, this is a role worth applying for.

What will you be doing?

At the core of this role is the delivery of the North Northamptonshire Cultural Masterplan, working collaboratively with partners across the cultural, heritage, voluntary and creative sectors to turn its ambitions into tangible outcomes. You will help coordinate activity across the district, build and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, and support efforts to attract the cultural funding and investment the area needs to thrive.

You will lead on the planning and delivery of flagship events across North Northamptonshire, managing all aspects from concept through to evaluation. Whether coordinating Northamptonshire Day, the Roman Festival at Chester House Estate or the LVEP Awards and Conference, you will ensure each event is delivered to a high standard, engages the right audiences and contributes to the wider cultural and visitor economy agenda.

As part of the Discover Northamptonshire Hub team at Rushden Lakes, you will support the day-to-day operation and continuous development of the Tourism Hub, helping to create a welcoming, high-quality visitor experience that showcases the best of the area. This includes contributing to programming, interpretation, exhibitions and the commercial sustainability of the Hub.

You will also play an active role in growing the Discover Northamptonshire brand, supporting marketing and promotional activity, identifying opportunities for sponsorship and income generation, and acting as a key point of contact for tourism, culture and heritage enquiries across the region. Underpinning everything will be a commitment to monitoring and evaluating impact, maintaining accurate records and budgets, and ensuring all activity is delivered safely, inclusively and in line with council priorities.

About you

You will have relevant experience in events, culture, tourism, heritage or visitor experience, and a track record of delivering activity that engages communities and brings people together. You will be comfortable managing multiple priorities at once, with strong organisational and project management skills that allow you to take an event or programme from initial idea through to successful delivery.

You will be a natural relationship builder, able to work effectively with a wide range of partners, stakeholders and community organisations. You will understand the value of collaboration and know how to bring people together around a shared agenda. Excellent communication skills are essential, whether you are representing Discover Northamptonshire at a partner meeting, supporting a volunteer at a community event, or responding to a visitor enquiry at the Hub.

A good understanding of the visitor economy and place-based cultural delivery will be important, as will awareness of how marketing, digital communication and destination promotion can help raise the profile of an area. Experience of income generation, sponsorship or funding applications would be a real advantage, as would familiarity with the cultural and heritage landscape of North Northamptonshire.

Above all, we are looking for someone who is proactive, solutions-focused and genuinely motivated by the idea that culture and creativity can make a real difference to people and places. You will be comfortable working flexibly, including some evenings, weekends and bank holidays to support events and Hub operations, and you will bring a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in everything you do.
