We are recruiting for a Trainee Accountant to join our Volker Laser Finance team based at our Hoddesdon head office. Our VL Finance team provide a 'first class' financial support and analysis, reporting to both our UK and Dutch boards.
Reporting into our Finance Business Partner, this role encompasses a range of responsibilities that are principally focussed on the delivery of high quality and robust financial information and analysis.
The role will include a training contract for a professional finance qualification (AAT/CIMA/ACCA) with study leave. This will require a strong work ethic and ambition, with qualification taking 4-5 years on average.
Our role
Assisting with the submission of monthly management accounts
Processing of monthly journal vouchers
Running reports and preparing financial data and information and assisting in performing variance analyses
Assisting with forecasting and budgeting processes
Submission of company results to National Statistics
Assisting with general ledger maintenance including reconciliation of monthly overhead costs and balance sheet items
Assisting with preparing annual statutory accounts and providing audit support
Ad hoc projects and analysis as required
Study and exams for professional accounting qualification
Liaising with commercial team on any cost queries on contracts
About you
You will have demonstrable experience of working at a similar level. You'll also hold strong results GCSEs and A-Levels. You'll also have demonstrable experience of using MS Excel at intermediate level (preparing reports etc).
Desirable: Level 3 AAT or degree in accounting/finance.
You'll have strong communication skills, be resilient, be a strong collaborator and relationship builder with effective stakeholder management skills.
