Job Overview – Temporary School Cleaner
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Temporary School Cleaner to join our team. The role involves maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment within the school to support the wellbeing of pupils, staff, and visitors. You will be responsible for carrying out daily and periodic cleaning tasks in classrooms, corridors, toilets, staff areas, and other school facilities, ensuring that high standards are met at all times.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Clean classrooms, offices, corridors, and communal areas.
* Clean and sanitise toilets, washrooms, and changing areas.
* Empty bins and dispose of waste in line with school policies.
* Vacuum, sweep, mop, and polish floors as required.
* Wipe down and sanitise desks, tables, chairs, and high-touch surfaces.
* Refill soap, sanitiser, and paper towel dispensers.
* Ensure cleaning materials and equipment are used safely and stored correctly.
* Report any maintenance issues, health and safety hazards, or supply shortages to the supervisor.
* Follow school safeguarding procedures at all times.
£12.21 a hour, working Monday to Friday -15.30pm to 19.00pm to cover staff long term sickness.
Job Requirements
* Experience: Previous cleaning experience in a school or commercial environment preferred but not essential (training will be provided).
* Skills:
* Ability to follow cleaning schedules and instructions.
* Good attention to detail to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
* Effective time management skills to complete tasks on time.
* Physical Requirements:
* Able to carry out physical tasks such as bending, lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
* Confident in using cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners, floor machines).
* Knowledge:
* Understanding of basic health and safety practices, including safe handling of cleaning chemicals (COSHH awareness desirable).
* Awareness of infection control and hygiene standards in schools.
* Personal Qualities:
* Reliable, punctual, and flexible.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Professional and respectful around children, staff, and visitors.
* Other Requirements:
* Enhanced DBS is required.
* Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality.
