CCSBC is looking to appoint an Assistant Director of Rowing and Senior Coach, to join their existing team from September 2026. The Assistant Director of Rowing will be the logistical heartbeat of Claires Court Boat Club, translating the club’s vision into daily reality. While maintaining a high‑profile coaching presence on the water, your core mission is to ensure the club’s administrative and operational frameworks run seamlessly and that strategy, equipment maintenance and coaching delivery are integrated into one cohesive team.
Logistical Leadership & Events
* The Master Schedule: Own and manage the club’s daily and termly rotas, ensuring that staff, athletes, events, races and facility access are perfectly synchronized.
* Seasonal Commitment: Coordinate and attend activities outside of standard school hours, including early‑morning training, weekend regattas and holiday camps.
* Race Day Orchestration: Lead the administrative planning for the racing season, including BROE2 entries, transport logistics and event‑day coordination.
* Tours & Camps: Manage the end‑to‑end logistics for training camps, from venue contracts and travel documentation to parent communications.
* School Liaison: Work and communicate with teaching staff and management daily to ensure our rowers receive the support they need.
On the Water: Coaching & Athlete Development
* High‑Performance Delivery: Serve as a lead coach on the water, driving the technical and physical development across all squads and translating hard work into boat speed.
* Technical Alignment: Work in lockstep with the Director of Rowing to make our technical vision and syllabus the gold standard for every session, ensuring a single technical voice across the club.
* Athlete Mentorship & Motivation: Mentor athletes, keeping them hungry and focused, helping them navigate intensity increases and ensuring a clear path to progression.
* Team Synergy: Support fellow coaches, share insights and step in wherever needed to keep the club’s “Engine Room” professional, positive and collaborative.
Liaison & Communication
* Club Diplomacy: Act as the primary liaison with Maidenhead Rowing Club, maintaining a harmonious relationship and coordinating shared water use and facility access.
* Fleet Integration: Partner daily with the Equipment Manager to align the racing schedule with maintenance priorities and trailer loading.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the logistical face of the club for parents and school administration, providing clear, timely and professional updates on club activities.
Safety & Compliance
* Safety Leadership: Lead safety initiatives, ensuring all on‑ and off‑water operations adhere to British Rowing RowSafe standards and school policy.
* Risk Management: Maintain dynamic risk assessments and keep coaching staff up to date with required certifications.
General Responsibilities
* Work safely for your protection and that of others (see Health and Safety policy).
* Promote safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people, maintaining a safe environment where students feel respected and supported.
* Complete and attend all safeguarding and child protection training as required by the school.
* Ensure compliance with GDPR and the School’s Privacy Notice for Staff.
* Model inclusion, equality, diversity and protected characteristics, promoting equal opportunities in working with students and colleagues.
We are looking for a proven senior coach who finds genuine satisfaction in a “perfect plan.” You believe that the best coaching happens when logistics—entries, trailers and rotas—are handled with precision. To be successful you must.
* Be an experienced coach, preferably British Rowing Level 2 qualified or equivalent.
* Possess the emotional intelligence to manage vital relationships with club partners and river users.
* Enjoy using technology and systems (spreadsheets, apps and rotas) to keep a complex organisation moving forward.
* Work collaboratively, supporting the Director of Rowing while empowering the wider coaching team.
