Air Conditioning Engineer (Service)

Summary of Duties
Service and maintenance of air conditioning appliances within commercial, educational, and retail premises. Fault finding in both commercial and domestic properties.
Responsibilities
* Attend service and reactive breakdowns to fault find, diagnose and repair in a timely and cost‑effective manner.
* Use knowledge of air‑conditioning fault‑finding to provide high levels of first‑time fixes and customer care.
* Carry out day‑to‑day responsive maintenance, service and repairs as instructed.
* Carry out servicing and safety checks on all air‑con systems.
* Make immediate decisions regarding repair requirements when the original job order does not reflect the actual work needed and inform the relevant director.
* Inform the customer (with reasons) when it is not possible to complete a repair within the first visit and make mutually agreed arrangements to return.
* Direct helpers engaged in assembly or installation of air‑con systems or components.
* Liaise with management and/or client to ensure all works are completed.
* Ensure that all works and repairs are completed safely and in accordance with current codes and practices.
* Abide by all client rules and regulations whilst on site.
* Ensure that a best‑value, cost‑effective approach is sought when purchasing materials.
* Maintain and keep up to date all required training for the role.
* Accurately complete all relevant documentation and return information to the office promptly.
* Use company vehicle in accordance with company policies if provided.
* Ensure company property, such as motor vehicle, uniform, tools, is operated safely, kept clean and in good order.
* Take a proactive approach in finding and quoting additional works when required.
* Carry out site audits, vehicle audits, post‑work inspections, quotations and engineer meetings.
* Adhere to company policies, procedures, handbook and health and safety.
Qualifications
* Recognised air‑conditioning apprenticeship and commercial experience, including fault‑finding, service, repair and maintenance on air‑conditioning installations and appliances.
* Working knowledge of test equipment, including an electrical multimeter.
* Flexible approach.
* Ability to be part of an emergency call‑out team on a rota basis.
* Promote a positive and professional attitude to all customers and staff.
* Self‑motivated and able to work under own initiative as well as within a team.
* Willing to undertake further training and development as required.
* Effective communication skills with tenants and the public.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Basic IT skills.
* Enhanced DBS check required for the role.
Other Details
Travel is involved; this is a mobile position that requires visits to multiple sites. Additional hours over contracted hours may be required and will be paid as overtime.
