Energy Advisor – Energy & Manufacturing Industries Regulation
The Environment Agency is recruiting a fixed‑term (up to 2 years) Energy Advisor to support the regulation of combustion plants, waste incineration, and refineries. The role will focus on developing and delivering tools, strategies and best‑practice guidance to protect the environment while driving sustainable energy transition.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert technical support, advice, guidance, and training to internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Develop sector strategy and produce regulatory tools that support development and deliver environmental outcomes.
* Commission and manage external research projects to underpin decision‑making.
* Work collaboratively with stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, industry trade associations, and operational teams.
* Respond to incidents and support business continuity when required.
Experience & Skills Required
* Proven experience in the energy sector or its regulation, with knowledge of emissions control for combustion processes.
* Ability to build and sustain effective relationships with regulators, operators, trade bodies, government, and academia.
* Strong teamwork skills and the capacity to work cooperatively towards shared goals.

Contract & Location
• Contract: Up to 2 years (fixed‑term)
• Location: Birmingham, UK (travel may be required)
