THE ROLE We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented and methodical Service Delivery Assistant to join our Winter Department on a temporary basis on a fixed-term zero-hour contract for the duration of the winter period until 30 th April 2026. This is a vital, hands-on role where you will assist the Senior Operations Managers with the safe and efficient delivery of the Winter Maintenance Services. From overseeing and supporting vehicle maintenance to supporting daily operations such as occasional gritting, you will play an essential part in ensuring service quality and keeping our sites running smoothly during the winter months. THE ROLE Support daily operations across the region, managing and motivating operators to meet and exceed targets and KPIs through supervision, training and coaching. Maintain clear and consistent communication at all levels to deliver excellent customer service and account support. Carry out site surveys, operator inspections, respond to breakdowns, monitor salt stocks, and identify new yard locations as needed. Ensure salt piles are correctly covered and maintained. Assist with the training of new operators and the issuing of vehicles and equipment. Complete daily administrative tasks, including updating service plans. Support route and asset planning to improve operational efficiency. Conduct in-progress and retrospective service audits to ensure consistent quality. Review and investigate exception reports. Provide site service cover where necessary. Resolve access issues and report them via Nimbus, ensuring workflows are followed. Carry out basic maintenance and repairs to spreaders and vehicles. Coordinate breakdown cover when required. ABOUT YOU Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), and confidence using databases. Ability to multitask, prioritise and deliver results in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Logical, practical, and solutions-focused, with strong operational awareness. Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in an operational role, with a willingness to learn. Must hold a valid UK driving licence and be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake a DBS check (reimbursed by the company).
