About Us
We are an award-winning medical technology company pioneering the application of microwave energy in healthcare. Our technology delivers precise, repeatable procedures that improve clinical outcomes, and our products are used in surgical ablation applications worldwide—both under our own brand and as white-label solutions for OEM partners.
The Role
This is a leadership position for an experienced electronics professional ready to shape the technical direction of our engineering function. You'll lead a team of six engineers (embedded software and electronics) while maintaining hands-on involvement in complex design challenges. The role balances strategic leadership with technical depth—approximately 30% management and 70% technical contribution.
You'll oversee the complete electronics lifecycle for medical device systems, from initial architecture through to manufacturing transfer. This includes analogue and digital design, microcontroller and FPGA implementation, and ensuring rigorous compliance with ISO 13485 and related regulatory frameworks.
The position requires someone who can translate technical concepts for both engineering teams and business stakeholders, including OEM customers. You'll drive continuous improvement in methodologies and best practices while managing resources across multiple development projects.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
* Bachelor's degree (Hons) in Electronics Engineering or related discipline
* 7+ years in electronics design for system-level development
* Proven experience with schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium Designer preferred)
* Strong background in regulatory documentation and design control procedures
* Demonstrated leadership capability with excellent communication skills
* Proficiency in circuit simulation tools and test equipment
Highly Desirable:
* Experience in medical devices or similarly regulated industries (ISO 13485, IEC 60601)
* Knowledge of wireless technologies, system interconnects, and EMC/EMI design
* Background in risk management (ISO 14971, DFMEA)
* FPGA design experience using VHDL
* Understanding of software development standards (IEC 62304)
This role will suit a senior or principal engineer seeking their next career step into engineering management, or an experienced team leader looking for greater technical and strategic responsibility.
What's on Offer
* Competitive salary commensurate with experience
* Company pension scheme
* On-site gym facilities
* Free parking and convenient rail access
* Flexible working arrangements
* Relocation assistance available
