Job Description
Responsible for the leadership, good management, and strategic direction of the school, conducting its affairs to benefit pupils and the community it serves. Lead and manage whole school policy, including its implementation and evaluation. Manage and develop the school curriculum, learning, and teaching provision to promote improved educational outcomes.
The post holder must demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the service and organization.
Holding the Standard for Headship is a prerequisite for teachers taking up their first permanent headteacher post at Local Authority and grant-aided schools in Scotland from 1 August 2020, under Section 28 of the Education (Scotland) Act 2016.
There are two exemptions: one for permanent headteachers appointed before 1 August 2020, and another allowing temporary appointment of individuals not meeting the Standard for Headship for up to 23 months after this date.
The grade for this position may be subject to change. Promoted Teaching Posts meeting criteria will be resized annually in line with the SNCT Handbook. Any grade change will be effective from 1 August each year.
