Children and Young People Workstream Lead – Preston Place Partnership – Job Opportunity

Active Lancashire

Hours: 2 days a week, based on a secondment model with a collaboration agreement with your host organisation. Working arrangements can be discussed as we appreciate that arrangements may differ between employing organisations.

Duration: 12 months – December 2025 to end of November 2026 (potential for an extension dependent on future funding and action plans).

Salary: £39,862 to £42,839 pro‑rata (negotiable).

Working Arrangements: 1 day per week agile working, with Thursday (TBC) based in the Preston Place Partnership Office at Fulwood Leisure Centre. The postholder will be required to spend a significant amount of time supporting work with stakeholders and communities across Preston.

Closing Date: Sunday 30th November 2025 at midnight.

Interviews: Friday 12th December 2025.

Preston is one of 80 Sport England Place Expansion localities, bringing stakeholders and communities together to address physical inactivity and support people to move more. Working across Children and Young People, Places and Spaces to be Active, Health and Messaging related to physical activity, you will help shape and deliver work that supports children and young people in Preston to have more opportunities to move.

Key Responsibilities

* Work closely with stakeholders, children and young people to support conversations and gain a greater understanding of barriers, enablers and necessary changes to help children and young people in Preston move more.
* Support children and young people to have a voice throughout this work, ensuring they have the space and time to design, shape and lead some of the work.
* Collaboratively design action plans related to children and young people using specific knowledge and insight gained.
* Support delivery of test‑and‑learn activity based on the insight that has been gained.
* Work with the Communications Lead to produce content that is easily digestible and relevant to a range of audiences, including reporting to Sport England.
* Work with the Evaluation and Learning Lead to record key findings and insights.
* Build trusted relationships with stakeholders to lay the foundations for long‑term change that will increase the profile and prioritisation of movement and physical activity for children, young people and their care givers.
* Work collaboratively with the Place Programme Manager, other Thematic Leads and Strategic Leads from Active Lancashire & Preston City Council to share relevant insights and progress the application to full award.

Qualifications and Attributes

* Passion for working with children and young people and supporting them to have a voice in work that relates to them.
* Ability to develop trusted relationships with key stakeholders.
* Ability to bring together a wide range of people and support them to collaborate and connect, quietly leading from the sidelines through support, facilitation and enabling.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to flex the approach to the audience to ensure clarity.
* Ability to interpret learning and insight to support the production of appropriate plans that will help children and young people in Preston move more.
* Understanding of the current physical activity landscape, including policies and national guidelines, and familiarity with child‑focused areas such as early years, education or community work.
* Experience of working with children and young people.
* Open-minded to new ways of working, willing to adopt alternative approaches and eager to embed and share new learnings within their host organisation.

Note: An enhanced DBS will be required for this role.
