Job Overview
The Procurement Manager – Clinical Laboratories role sits within the Indirect Procurement Delivery group, covering core procurement activities from category management, strategic and operational sourcing, supplier management, contracting, and content strategy definition and execution. This position focuses on the Clinical Laboratories commodity area and aims to improve health outcomes, reduce costs, and ensure that Roche delivers the right products and services to meet its patients’ needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Apply analytical thinking, planning, execution and focus to the procurement sourcing and delivery capability.
* Leverage general procurement knowledge and specialized expertise in clinical laboratory commodities to ensure effective and efficient delivery of core procurement services.
* Collaborate closely with internal procurement teams and business stakeholders to translate business needs into sourcing and spend‑management activities.
* Support customer demand, improve the buying experience, deliver day‑to‑day operational activities, and provide capacity and expertise for productivity and customer‑orientated projects.
* Conduct market and internal analysis to develop strategies and tactical plans for sourcing third‑party goods and services required by stakeholders.
* Execute sourcing strategies using spend, category know‑how, robust sourcing, negotiation, contracting, supplier‑management frameworks and project‑management skills.
* Develop content and automation, translating sourcing outcomes into automated buying channels that improve adoption, satisfaction and efficiency.
Qualifications
* University degree, preferably in business or a scientific discipline such as Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
* Proven procurement experience in strategic sourcing, category strategy building and strategic project execution with a general contracting understanding.
* Experience with procurement systems, processes and project‑management skills.
* Knowledge and experience in the Clinical Laboratories commodity area (Genomics, Bioanalytics, Soluble Biomarkers, Flow Cytometry, Histopathology, Central laboratories) and awareness of adjacent commodities.
* Deep experience in supplier management, contract negotiations, cost optimisation, market research & analysis in R&D categories, and understanding of related R&D regulations (e.g., GCP).
* Curiosity, active listening, willingness to experiment, and a focus on continuous learning and improvement.
* Open‑mindedness, inclusiveness, sharing ideas and knowledge, and receptiveness to feedback.
* Fluent English to a business level.
This role is based onsite at our Welwyn office in Hertfordshire.
