EFI Global, a division of Sedgwick, is seeking an experienced engineer to support investigation and assessment work across Christchurch and the wider South Island. This opportunity is ideally suited to a retired or semi‑retired engineer looking for flexible, meaningful contract work without the demands of full‑time practice.
Location: Christchurch, South Island Coverage
About The Role
This is a contract engagement offering genuine flexibility — typically 1–3 days per week, with workload varying week to week. The role is primarily Christchurch‑based, with occasional travel across the South Island and the odd overnight stay when required.
You’ll draw on your technical expertise to support investigation‑focused engineering work, particularly within an insurance or forensic context.
About You
This role would suit someone with:
* A background in structural engineering or civil experience
* CPEng registration preferred, though this is flexible depending on depth of experience
* Previous experience in insurance‑related investigations highly regarded (experience following the Canterbury earthquakes would be particularly valuable)
* A pragmatic, independent working style and strong professional judgement
* Christchurch‑based, with the ability to travel as required
