About the Job As a Trade Apprentice within our Repairs and Maintenance team, you’ll support and learn key skills within a specific trade. Please note: The specific trade you will be placed in will be discussed and confirmed later in the recruitment process based on your interests, aptitude, and service needs. You’ll be delivering quality repair and maintenance services that directly benefit Newham residents, helping us maintain safe, sustainable homes and neighbourhoods. We aim to provide a high quality service in line with industry standards and are committed to developing future talent within the borough through apprenticeship opportunities. About the Training You will complete a Trade Apprenticeship Standard relevant to your final placement. This may include, but is not limited to: Property Maintenance Operative Plumbing and/or Domestic Heating Technician Carpentry and Joinery Plastering Painting and Decorating The exact trade and apprenticeship standard will be determined later in the recruitment process following assessment and matching to team needs. You will be able to demonstrate the following: GCSEs, or equivalent qualifications Good communication skills Ability to work well as part of a team and use own initiative. A commitment to deliver high quality services to Newham residents and a knowledge of local issues. Organisational skills with the ability to focus on achieving targets. Reliability and punctuality A commitment to undertake and complete a qualification via a structured apprenticeship training programme. Basic level of work experience About The Training You will be undertaking a professional apprenticeship standard. To successfully complete the Apprenticeship, not only must you meet the performance standards required by your line manager, but you will also need to meet the apprenticeship learning requirements. Your responsibilities will include: Attending and participating in all classes and workshops on and offsite Learning, developing and demonstrating practical skills, Completing all tests and assignments Observing all employee policies, processes and procedures, Delivering presentations to colleagues and other stakeholders. You should be well-organised, flexible, and willing to assist wherever possible.
