We are seeking an experienced and reliable Site Ganger to join our team. The Ganger will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of a small team of construction workers on-site. This role is crucial to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of construction projects, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
General works comprise of the following but not limited to -
* Preparation of construction sites to include vegetation clearance, demolition and site strip.
* Construct concrete foundations to include; dig out, prepare sub base, setting up of temporary formworks, pour / finish concrete.
* Trenching including Installation of utilities like water and sewerage systems.
* Reinstating both hard and soft surfaces.
* Road construction.
* Hard landscaping to include Kerbing / Slabbing / Block Paving.
Responsibilities:
* Lead a small team of operatives, or section of project, providing clear instructions and guidance on daily tasks.
* Allocate duties and tasks to team members based on skills and project requirements.
* Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
* Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations on-site.
* Conduct regular safety briefings and ensure that all team members are wearing appropriate PPE.
* Identify and address potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment for the team.
* Monitor the progress of work on-site, ensuring that tasks are completed on time and to the required standard.
* Provide hands-on assistance with construction activities when necessary.
* Liaise with the Site Manager or Foreman to receive daily work instructions and provide updates on progress.
* Communicate effectively with other trades and subcontractors on-site to ensure smooth workflow and avoid delays.
* Report any issues, delays, or incidents promptly to the Site Management.
* Oversee the proper use and maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment by the team.
* Ensure that materials are used efficiently and waste is minimized.
* Inspect completed work to ensure it meets the required quality and specification standards.
* Address any defects or issues promptly, ensuring that corrective actions are taken.
Experience:
* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
* Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations.
* Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Requirements:
* In-Date CSCS card.
* Relevant Skills Cards (360 Excavator/Dumper/Roller/etc) if applicable.
* SSSTS preferred but not essential.
* Full UK Driving License (Own transport required initially).
Pay rates dependant on previous experience. Rates negotiable.
Works carried out all across the South West.
Direct employed or Self Employed (CIS) basis all considered.
